In the fall of 2007, Citizens Federal started the 10th year of offering school savings in the elementary schools of the county. In the past 9 years since beginning the program in 1997, many children have actively participated in the program, eagerly bring their coins and dollars to put into "their" account. Many have done a terrific job of saving and hopefully have developed a lifelong habit that will be to their financial benefit. We are proud to invest our time and resources in a program that we feel will help our children learn that SAVING IS FUN and SMART.
In addition to being available in elementary schools in the county, the school savings program is also available to all home schooled students. A VISIT TO THE BANK IS A CLASSROOM FOR LEARNING. What better tool than the students own account to teach basic addition of deposits and interest and subtraction of withdrawals. The student receives a statement every quarter mailed in their name.
It is never too early to start your child in the habit of small but steady saving. Sign up packets can be picked up at our office or at your school office and may be requested at any time.
