CHECK 21 will dramatically improve the way checks are processed. It allows an electronic image of your check, rather than the paper check, to travel from bank to bank for collection. Banks can then convert that image back into a "SUBSTITUTE CHECK". This means speedier posting of checks for banks and less chance of fraud for you.
In order to avoid overdrawing your account, it is extremely important that you have money in your account BEFORE writing checks because it is possible the money could come out of your account the same day.
